
This is located at the historical village along Westview Dr. Jingo is the former name of Fairview. Barren was the first post office in the First District, established September 7, 1839 with Isaac Toomey as postmaster. Other First District post offices were Christiana, 1858-1880; Basin Springs, 1858-1905; Naomi, 1881-1905; Fernvale Springs, l886-1904; Pasadena, 1899-1904; Craigfield 1892-1906: and Neutral, 1901-1904. When a committee of citizens held a long discussion on what to rename Christiana in 1880, one farmer, replied, "It's late. If you can't decide, By Jingo, I'm going home.” Thus, the odd-by-word was adopted. Jingo post office closed in August 1937, when a new post office, renamed Fairview, was built on Highway 100, with Tella Mangrum as postmistress. The Jingo P. O. building was moved to this site in 2006 from its original location on Elrod Road.
