Triangle School (grades 1-10) opened in 1939, with 115 students, replacing Union Valley School. The 3.3-acre triangular lot was purchased from W.F. Daugherty for $166.66. It was built by B.B. Sweeney for $2,183.84. Nelle Walker Sullivan, who taught school for 50 years, was the first principal. Madeline Sullivan Wallace and Ila Thompson completed the original faculty. Other notable teachers were Vella Sullivan Pegram, Ora Givens, Blanche Waters, Carl Walker, Sr., Era Walker, Dora Green, Beulah Page, Ralph Boyd, Othel Sullivan, Ludie Spicer, Mildred McReynolds, DeWitt Fox and Jesse Frank. The adjacent building was the cafeteria and canning facility. Fairview Elementary School (1-8) opened in 1962, with the merger of Triangle, New Hope and Fairview Schools.
