The Pole at the top is a flagpole with no flag. Gainesboro’s Business District is built on an incline, making it rare compared to most Tennessee towns. The Jackson County Court House is the center of the Historic District. Built in 1927 with an illuminated Seth Thomas clock in the tower, it is a remarkable structure. The clock must be wound every thirteen days to keep accurate time. A faithful volunteer climbs the tower and winds the clock devoutly. [I copied that last paragraph from the link below. I took the pic around 1:30 but the clock looks like 7:46.]
