THIS WEEK'S TRIVIA QUESTION:
Why was there a big uproar about the 12-foot high statue honoring
steelworkers that was unveiled at a Pittsburgh arts festival in 1990?
LAST WEEK'S TRIVIA:
What Did FDR have imprintedon White House Matchbooks?

Although somebody tried to convince me that the following item IS correct,
I
still think it sounds funny.
Excerpt of Senior Activities handout by the Senior Sponsors:
"CARE OF CAP AND GOWN-Hang gown on a hanger; if you press your gown,
be very
careful. Use a cool iron and a pressing cloth. Be sure
that the wrong side
of the garment"
The following two items are actual advertisements. The first one
proves that
you can make art out of anything. The second one is a very personal
phone
greeting you could subscribe to.

CONCEPT
Bronze Necktie Sculpture is a new art form which uses
the ubiquitous
necktie as a theme for solid art bronze sculpture. The
sculptures are
either Abstract or Representational, free-standing or
mounted on
marble bases, table-top, or giant for indoor or outdoor
siting.
The necktie theme stretches the imagination, creating
human
abstractions such as Reclining Tie, Tie Saxophonist, Tie
Geisha, Tie
Ballerina, and many others. The Representational sculptures
are
unrestricted by human form and action and focus, rather,
on shape,
form, color, texture, size, and freedom of expression.
PRODUCTION
The Bronze Necktie sculptures are all modelled in plaster
or wax and
subsequently cast in solid art bronze using the Lost Wax
method.
Molds are used for certain pieces so multiples can be
cast, while
others are unique or one-of-a-kind only.
The foundry process takes two to six weeks and includes
chasing and
hot patination.
APPLICATION
1. Table-top
2. Architectural - interior, exterior, building
sites, gardens,
playgrounds, etc.
3. Portrait ("portraits" modelled from a favorite
necktie)
4. Donor Recognition
5. Collectors
6. Private Schools, colleges, universities
7. Corporate
8. Timepiece (clock)
9. Fountains

Designer of the 1995 annual award for the Necktie Association
of
America.

Kinder Calls
in Touch With Your Children
HERE'S HOW KINDER CALLS WORKS
We will call your child once, twice or even three times
each day to
see that s/he is OK and has arrived home safely from school,
gets
ready for school, makes the club meeting or anything else
you
designate. If your child requests assistance or does not
answer the
telephone, you or someone you designate will be contacted
immediately.
A customized calling package can be created to suit your
particular
needs and schedule. Messages will be personalized. For
example, if
your child receives a wake-up call for school in the morning,
you can
also remind him or her not to forget to take lunch, homework,
etc. You
can remind your child that s/he is loved and wish him/her
