I've never seen anything similar to this before or since. As part of Nashville's Greenway system in the Two Rivers part of town, the city designated a pedestrian walking lane to an extant dead end street. Since this is a steeper part of the greenway and isn't very handicap friendly, they added these rest stops along the side.
