Jim Nance McCord (March 17, 1879 – September 2, 1968) spent many years as the publisher and editor of the Marshall Gazette newspaper. From there, he served as mayor of Lewisburg, spent one term in the US Hours of Representatives, and then was Governor of Tennessee from 1945 to 1949. As a Democrat, his term is best known for greatly increased funding for education, instituting a state sales tax, and enacting right-to-work legislation. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Nance_McCord McCord (as well as Gov. Buford Ellington) is buried in Lone Oak Cemetery in Lewisburg, TN. Once at the cemetery, look for the flag poles. There are about 5 of them and one is right next to this grave.
